The BWI Parents Association
The Parents Association is a registered charity and is run by a committee of parents which is elected each year in October. It provides out of school social events for pupils and parents while raising much needed funds for the school. Each class has a Class Representative who acts as a communicator between the PA and parents of the school. Details of committee members and forthcoming events are displayed on the PA notice board which is situated outside the school's main entrance.

PA Events for school year 2007/2008
Events were many and varied. We had the usual popular events but also tried out new events as well:
Staff pantomime, Christmas Fair, Family Disco, Round Table Santa collection, Quiz Night, Easter Tea Time, Beat the Clock, Summer Fete, Picnic in the Field and Football Tournament.
The PA worked very hard and had great support from parents.
MOBILE PHONES AND INK CARTRIDGES - Have you received a new mobile phone recently? Has your ink cartridge run out? If so please send them our way as we can claim money back for these. Please hand them into reception. THANK YOU.
How has the money been spent?
The PA raised approx. £14000 last year. We have completed our project and installed fourteen interactive whiteboards to classrooms. These have proved to be very popular with teachers and pupils as an educational learning aid. We have also provided soft flooring for the front playground climbing frame. We also supplied Literacy resources to KS1 and KS2 and paid for the bright and colourful mosaic which is outside the main school entrance and was created by all the pupils.
Last term we raised approximatly £6500 and this money is currently going towards the imminent installation of audio visual equipment for the school hall. The PA are also purchasing a new IT screen in our entrance hall, and a set of new football goals.
What can parents do to help?
The events each year rely heavily on external sponsorship and we are always looking for new sponsors and donations. Parents can help by asking their employers about this. It may be that your company offer a £ for £ scheme like Barclays or have a community cash scheme available. It is amazing what you can get IF you ask! You might also be able to acquire raffle prizes or items to be auctioned from local businesses you know or contacts that you have. Not all parents are able to attend or help at events so this is another way to do your bit for our school. Please contact any PA Member via the school office if you can help.
Thank you
We would like to thank our Class Reps who are a tremendous support to the PA, especially at the Christmas Fair and Summer Fete. Thanks also to our main sponsors last year - Barclays, Royal Bank of Scotland and Gibbs Gillespie.
